French ex-President Nicolas Sarkozy has been sentenced to jail for corruption. Sarkozy served as president of France from 2007 to 2012 and was then defeated by François Hollande by a little over 3%. Sarkozy was accused of taking €50 million in pay-outs from Libya during the 2007 campaign. Sarkozy has denied the allegation and his lawyers stated that they would appeal the decisio

Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe’s Vice President Kembo Mohadi resigned today amid sex scandal. According local news outlets, Mohadi was caught late last month soliciting sex from married women, including a subordinate in his office. Mohadi said he is stepping aside not because of cowardice but because he respects the office.

Barcelona

Police made several arrests today at Barcelona Football Club. Among those detained is head of legal services Román Gómez Pontí, CEO Òscar Grau and former Club president Jose Bartomeu. Police have no released an official statement regarding the arrests yet, but it is believed to be due to financial related crimes. Bartomeu stepped down at the end of last year after it was exposed that he hired a PR firm to create social media accounts that target multiple staff and players; including Lionel Messi.

Armenia

While speaking to a crowd of supporters, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan proposed a referendum on new constitution and snap polls to end protests. Protestors stormed the government building demanding the resignation of Pashinyan earlier that day. Pashinyan stated that the elections should decide who the people want in power. Both supporters and opposition protestors have gathered in the thousands daily in the Capital of Armenia demanding their party act on their demands
